in 2006, tim arndt released the first near the parenthesis album �go out and see�. arndt had intended to follow up that release with a more beatless ambient album, where percussion was left to the side and composition took center stage. a shelved idea that we now get the benefit of a full ten years later. this new album helical is the realization of arndt s stripped down ambient concept. helical features arndt�s characteristic experimental modem classical instrumentation and compositional style, but slows things down and stretches them out. the focus on the organic is clear, but moments of ethereal breath weave in and out and prevent the album from becoming too self aware. helical, as a loose reference to the geometric structure of our very dna and it contains themes that are driven by a recent discovery of arndt�s past and ancestry. the release seamlessly stitches all of these concepts together and marks an unique release and new direction for arndt�s near the parenthesis.

the expanders new album *hustling culture* is the band s third studio album, but for the band members feels like their first proper album as a cohesive unit.

this polyrhythmic swirl of drum machine, tape echo and locked grooves is the product of two post-1982 jam sessions between an anonymous dj and drum machine operator duo. the dj liked the way a record happened to skip. more were made to do so. the drum machine operator had had a bit too much, but he knew that 100 divided by 3 was 33 - and he was feeling the toms that night. file under: funky experimental.

qalomota records is back with a release from the 2 foundators of qalo-mota. as usual qm is large and offer you different type of house. for this cocktail ep you could dance on hard to get this track really influenced by nyc club scene. the old timer will pleased with too far gone reminisence of several tracks from dj pierre or eric kupper and as said adonis too far gone and no way back! to finish, the real music lovers will recognize the female singer on this remix from a classic of classic. simply few words, get fun and get your ass on the dancefloor.

mister ho and heap are ambassadors of the river danube. this is their first offering for the esp institute. on side a, collision resistance throws us into the bowels of an underground sex lair with an adrenaline-laden heartbeat for a kick drum, a rough dose of fisting illustrated by the combination of bassline with low-tom and an unrelenting snare that whips us raw into submission. somewhere in between the waves of punishment we can start to audibly pick up tortured moans of endurance and pleasure, but maybe its time we pull our minds from the gutter, wipe the sweat from our brow and flip the record for a reward. with side b�s veils of the beloved, mister ho & heap deliver us via speedboat to the white isle, coasting along to bouncy staccato bass notes and machine bleeps as a euphoric chord progression puts us in an 808 state of mind. the percussion arrangement and phasing string flourishes are introduced through a filter, opening slowly as if coming up for air from a beautiful blue abyss. these two songs are neither too salty nor too sweat

when we started heist a few years back, our idea was to give a stage to talent in a same way as we have had a helping hand by the labels that have supported us from the beginning. therefore, i�s our pleasure to share this release with you by newcomers ouer, a berlin based duo with only a handful of tracks out so far on their self released debut last year. their approach to producing is very much jam based, and with a compact collection of synths, drum machines and a fair level of distortion, they succeed in creating their own sound with hints of classic electronic music from chicago and detroit. theres a nice mix of energy on the whole ep, the ascent being the most driving track of the package. fans of classics mcde tracks will love show off with its dreamy dx7 style chords and cracking acid lines. move over feels like a jam session that was way too much fun with some lovely solo work on the synths, whereas mess around goes down in similar free-ride style on the synths and again, has some lovely sampling going on. an impressive ep were just all too happy to have on our label. sincerely yours, lars & maarten

ltd 2016 repress !! helsinki based common labour gives birth to its second offering on this limited vinyl only release. continuing in the same vein of quality twisted deep house, potholes unravels the mahla ep. the title track mahla gets the juices flowing with a hypnotic deep house groover. serenades head honcho roberto rodriguez takes the remix reins and works mahla into a more percussive and refined interpretation. its an honour having him on the common labour imprint. on the flip side, gambler sleazes off into b-grade italo disco spaghetti western territory. a possible soundtrack to a horror flick with kenny rogers stumbling into a truckers rest area after a messy night out. rounding off the ep, spoekhus picks up the pace and mood giving the handbag circle some ammo to shuffle their stilettos too. cementing another polished offering from this artisan label.

coeo are to toy tonics records, what master at work were to the house scene of the 1990ies: they bring the soul into the house. their new ep back in the days is a 4 track house stomper that could have been made in 1997 by guys like sneak, dimitri from paris or little louie. but still the similarities to the new berlin sample-house scene around max graef and hodini are evident, too. already their last years superhit native riddim (which is featured as a bonus track on this vinyl) included some heavy jazz samples they found in their parents bag of soul. native riddim has been no.1 in the traxsource charts for several weeks and was the basis for their already huge following. from laurent garnier to tensnake - the feedback has been awesome. now they proceed their way of souldful house. just good taste.

as far as defying conventions goes, frits is on a whole new level of realness. with his new label bobby donny, hes putting out leftfield electronic music with a big f.y. attitude and hes not too shy to tell you why the current state of the house scene is so utterly boring to him.
